OLI Camp 2024 Support Staff

Introduction:
OLI is looking for dynamic, energetic, outgoing support staff to help our team run a youth dance and leadership camp and show for over 175 youth. The ideal candidate will excel in working with youth, demonstrate a strong professional demeanour, and possess excellent punctuality, reliability, and responsibility. Healthy self-management is essential for this role. As an OLI Support Staff, you will be part of an inclusive organization that provides art education and support services for Indigenous youth across Canada from fly-in reserves and urban centers.

  • Dance Experience/Understanding of Dance
  • Clear Vulnerable Police Check.
  • Mental Health Training/First Aid is considered an asset.
  • A driver’s license is considered an asset.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ROLE A: (April 25th - May 12th)

  • Week 1 Duties:
  • 2-day training April (26-27th) - arrival April 25th
  • Pre-Camp Prep (LoadIn, Postages etc.)
  • Participant Intake (Bag Checks, Collect Electronics, Contraband etc.)
  • Camp Orientation  (Icebreakers & energizers -  OLI Camp Rules)
  • Dance Support (Warmup, Cooldown, Choreography, Possible opportunity to dance)
  • Camp Support (wrangling, homework support, energy producers, cabin leader) 
  • Week 2 Duties:
  • Backstage Lead Shadowing & Floaters
  • Tech / Staging  Support
  • Backstage Wrangling 
  • Warmups / Rehearsal Hall Duty 
  • VIP Reception Speaker or Usher 
  • Media Support
ROLE B: (May 4th - 13th)

  • 1 Day Training (Sunday) May 5th 
  • Tech Week Duties
  • Load In - Costumes & Supplies & Postages 
  • Hair / Makeup / Costume Support
  • Catering Support
  • Lobby Support 
  • Backstage Wrangling 
  • Media Support 
  • VIP Reception Support
  • Show Load Out Crew 
  • Camp Clean-Up Crew

Key Details:
  • Contract work dates are from: 
  • ROLE A - April 25th - May 12th, 2024
  • ROLE B -  May 4th - May 13th, 2024
  • Compensation: Lump Sum Payment after camp is complete.
  • Role A: $2,000
  • Role B: $1,000
  • Location: Southern Ontario
  • OLI will provide travel, accommodations and meals.
